Carolyn spent her childhood in NC with her nose in a book and head in the clouds. She loves to read, especially quirky Southern writers, and write both nonfiction and made-up stuff. One of her big kahuna dreams of selling a novel recently came true; now she's working on the second one! She recently moved from Savannah, Georgia, to Redding, Connecticut with her husband, two sons, and giant rescue pup Dale. So far, it's going great. It's a serious bagel upgrade; however, nobody told them there are bears in Connecticut (oh, my!) Carolyn loves practicing yoga, eating pie, visiting indie bookstores, scouring Facebook Marketplace for MCM treasures, and wondering What Beyoncé Would Do. She can’t wait to help students share their stories and voices!
- One time I danced to a Madonna song on a table in a bar with Jimmy Fallon.
- I won the Type-a-thon in sixth grade.
- I love dark chocolate and coconut and scour my kids' Halloween bags for Mounds and Almond Joys.
If I were a dean of admissions this is an essay prompt that I'd want students to answer: Tell me about a choice you made that changed your life
What do you spend too much time doing? Freaking laundry.
Which historical figure would you like to meet? It’s probably cheating to mention more than one but I would love to throw back a cocktail with Flannery O’Connor, Eudora Welty, and Harper Lee on a porch in Mississippi. It would be a time.
