college-collage

Joan spends approximately 20% of her time on college campuses asking questions with her students’ needs in mind. She talks to students, faculty members, admission officers, visit classes, reads the school newspaper, attends athletic events, and gets a general feel of the campus culture for her students. Joan is committed to bringing the most current first hand information to her families with whom she is working.

Testing Information

hifive

Applying to college can seem like an exercise in figuring out a lot of strange acronyms associated with standardized tests such as ACT, TOEFEL, SAT I and II. To learn more about these tests and why they can matter so much to you in the college admissions process,

The College Board
The College Board is a not-for-profit examination board that manages the SATs, SAT Subject Tests, PSAT/NMSQT, college-level examination programs, and advanced placement (AP) programs. It also offers the CSS/Financial Profile, a financial aid application service that many institutions use in determining family contribution and financial assistance packages.

The ACT test is a non-profit organization that offers a widely accepted college entrance exam. It assesses high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple choice test covers four skill areas: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.

TOEFL
Information and registration for the Test of English as a Foreign Language.

Educational Testing Service
If you have questions about standardized testing, go right to the source: the Educational Testing Service
Network.

Financial Aid / Scholarship Information

guidebook

Filling out financial aid forms can be a daunting task. But doing so accurately can save you thousands of tuition dollars. Public colleges with modest price tags are becoming more selective, while lesser-known private colleges may admit more students. To score a great education at an affordable price, students need to do a little extra research, think creatively and be assertive.

Click HERE for some great web tools.

FAFSA
To learn more about the free application for Federal Student Aid and to fill out the application online.
