With January 1st behind us, Academic Access seniors have met their deadlines, submitted their applications, and now await decisions! However, there’s no “off” season here at Academic Access. Here’s what we’re talking about this week:

Application Follow-Up: Just because you’ve submitted all of your applications does not mean that you’re done with the college application process! It is equally important to follow up on the status of your applications. This way, you can ensure that all of those moving parts (transcript, test scores, teacher recoportal_loginmmendations, ect.) have made it to your schools. There are a couple of ways to determine whether or not your application is “complete.”

  1. Log into the online portal using the username and password emailed to you by an admissions office. This portal will not only tell you if you’re missing a component of your application, but ultimately, the university may also inform you of your admissions decision through this portal.
  2. Give the office of admissions a call. Give them your name, and ask to check on the status of your application. It’s that easy!

Mid-Year Grades: Most of you are in the midst of finishing up mid-term exams, which means your senior fall semester is coming to a close. The end of the semester is when your high school sends out mid-year grades to all of your schools. Check in with your high school counselor to make sure your mid-year grades are getting sent out!

Early Testing: Our juniors are getting started this month with intake meetings and the introduction of the college list. One thing to keep in mind as you begin the college application process: testing early gives us data that we can use as a benchmark as we begin to talk about different schools. This early SAT or ACT score is only your first, and there’s no reason to be nervous!
